District Administration


 Sonitpur  is  one of the   27 districts of  Assam with head quarter at Tezpur.   It comprises of three   Sub- divisions,  seven  Revenue Circles , twenty five  Mouzas , fourteen   Development Blocks and eleven Police Stations. 

The  9-Tezpur  House   of  People  Constituency  consists   of   eight   Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Sonitpur  district and 79-Bihpuria of Lakhimpur district.

The Sonitpur District has Local Self Government  in the form of  Mahkuma Parishads, Anchalik Panchayats  and   Gaon Panchayats  in  Rural areas,  Municipal Boards and  Town Committees in urban areas. 

 For the benefit of  citizens of the District, the Revenue Branch of the Deputy Commissioner's office, Sonitpur, has prepared a Citizens’ Charter. The Charter mentions the various services that are rendered to the citizens by the Revenue Branch and the 7 Circle Offices under it.
